Meet Pam Roy
Multiple avenues, one mission.
It all started with my blog for parents about education and preparing students for life and work. Through writing, films, initiatives, and mentorship, I advocate for meaningful education opportunities and community-based support to foster the mental health and well-being of children and young adults. I challenge our current one-size-fits-all school system and highlight the meaning-oriented philosophy of renowned psychiatrist Viktor Frankl.
Film has the power to spark awareness of cultural issues and encourage people to take action. To that end, I co-founded Straight Up Impact film company and am excited to be the Executive Producer of the feature film Man’s Search for Meaning (2025), based on Viktor Frankl’s book of the same name, and bring his ideas to a new generation. Also with Straight Up Impact, I am Producer of Meaning in Madness, a short film series highlighting systemic issues affecting youth mental health and well-being, which is soon to be released. Giving further support to mental health initiatives, I am also Executive Producer of The Friendship Bench with Sealion Films, which was inspired by Dr. Dixon Chibanda’s TED talk about how he trains grandmothers to treat depression by sitting on park benches.

In every moment, you have the opportunity to make meaningful choices. The Inspiring Wisdom of Viktor Frankl: A 21-Day Reflection Book about Meaning, which I co-authored, guides you toward making the shifts necessary to live a truly meaningful life. Be empowered to choose wisely.
In every moment, you have the opportunity to make meaningful choices.
The standard education model we use to prepare our children for life is not working well for them–or us. In my book, Parenting From The Passenger Seat: How our children develop capabilities, connections, and meaningful lives, I write about parenting from a VERY different perspective. It’s time for a shift.
Providing resources related to meaning-oriented theory and philosophy, I co-founded The Viktor Frankl Institute of America. There, Alex Vesely (Frankl’s grandson) and I developed the online course Viktor Frankl’s Logotherapy: The Discovery of Meaning, where you’ll gain a unique understanding of Viktor Frankl’s theories and how they apply to modern life.
B-Unbound, facilitating community-based relationships among youth and supportive adults around shared interests where peer-to-peer support also plays a role, is a platform I co-founded. Authentic Connections Groups, developed by acclaimed researcher Suniya Luthar whose work showed that resilience in children is significantly impacted by the health and well-being of their primary caregivers (usually mothers), is a group I’m proud to be on the board of. AC Groups foster close, supportive connections to provide much-needed support.
Along with Chef Amar Santana and Ahmed Labbate, I co-own Vaca restaurant in Costa Mesa, CA.
I graduated from USC in 1981 with a B.S. in Business. I worked as a financial analyst for Bechtel Investments, Inc. before moving into the field of real estate market research. I was a Partner at RCLCo, Inc. and opened their Washington, D.C. office before starting my own consulting firm.
